Personality & Story

Mossui Town's local handywoman and professional bodybuilder, Aki Ogata is a loud, energetic, personable woman who strives for self improvement. During the events of The Teal Mask, Aki was away from home for a tournament. Kitakami's Paradise Barrens has always been one of her favorite places for her workouts. So, imagine her suprise when, after only a week long absense, Okidogi, the brawn of Kitakami's Loyal Three, had taken residence there. The "hero" has taken an interest in her, from her impressive physique—a build similar to his own—to the sheer intensity of some of her training. Pokémon, or rather, the thought of owning and training Pokémon have never been much of an interest to Aki, so this sudden positive attention from a being she held such reverence to was quite the shock.

After deep contemplation and introspection, Aki had come to the conclusion that this unforeseen recognition was fate. She went out and purchased Poké Balls with the intent of becoming partners with Okidogi, still unaware of his's true nature. However, upon arriving at the Paradise Barrens, fully prepared to become partners with Okidogi without any issues, the bodybuilder was met with the canine slapping the Poké Ball right out of her hand, causing it to break on a rock due to the sheer force of the slap. She was confused by the gesture, defeated she went on with her planned workout routine for the day. Much to her greater confusion, Okidogi ended up joining her, having been watching closely during the time they spent within the vicinity. Much to her even greater confusion, Okidogi ended up following her home! This is where Aki learned the truth about Kitakami's so called heros. Seeing the reaction of the townspeople of Mossui, people she'd grown to love and cherish over the years, she felt a betrayal she had no idea she could even feel. A story she had believed her entire life, these Pokémon she had grown up revering and worshiping. These creatures that had brought her back to the light after a dark time in her life. For everything she knew about them to be a lie, with a far more corrupt truth shook her to her core.

During her teen years, Aki was the leader of a group of delinquents. During this time she did and orchestrated some less than savory things she'd rather forget. But, those memories are stuck with her, and as such, she's made it her life's goal to improve day by day, even if only by a little, and to make up for all of the wrongs she had done. Despite the shock and pain, she felt an empathy for Okidogi, and by extension the other two members of the Loyal Three. She's also experienced a similar mass hatred of the entire town, a feeling that Aki could never forget. If she could change, so could they, she knew that much for sure; especially considering her time alone in the Barrens with Okidogi. He had changed, seemingly for the better; getting a good beating from those kids must have really humbled him. She chose to believe and forgive him, the same way the people of Mossui Town forgave her after she began to show genuine change in her life.

The bodybuilder ended up catching two other Pokémon in Kitakami after this: a male White-Striped Basculin named "Ivory" and a female Poltchageist named "Matcha". She had also started referring to Okidogi as simply "Oki". Safe to say Aki isn't the most creative when it comes to names. She caught these two in Poké Balls, much to Oki's dismay, forcing her to keep the two out of their balls at all times and insisting on carrying around a bucket of water for Ivory to be in when not at home in a fish tank. Suprisingly soon after catching her, the team came across a teacup that let Matcha evolve into Sinistcha. Strangely, after forming a proper team, Oki seemed to be almost opposed to battling, often lazing about and leaving the fight to the other team members. In addition to her handywoman and workout activies, she's also picked up a hobby of studying Pokémon. On a related note Aki ended up travelling to Galar for another competition, however this talk of invasive species and whatnot has piqued her interested, so she plans on staying for longer to take a look into everything.
